Employed Short Film
Hello! We are currently in pre production for our original short film “Employed” written by Elliot Saldivar. The film is starring Elliot and Bri Keim who introduce themselves in the video. Crowdfunding starts on July 14th and ends after 30 days on August 13th!
Please share this video and the “Seed&Spark” with everyone you know so we can reach the most people possible. We will include your name in the credits and offer BTS/Early looks of the project for those who donate! Here is the link: https://seedandspark.com/fund/employedshort
We have an estimated budget of $4000 for production costs, so we are hoping to crowdfund half of that due to the lack of out of pocket money. All of the crew will be donating their time and efforts and we want to insure that they are comfortable on set so we can make the best film possible in the 4 days of filming that we have.
We are set to film August 29th through September 1st in Prescott, AZ and need help funding Food for our crew of 12-15 people, housing for the people coming up from phoenix, costs of film permits and locations, and transportation costs for those driving up from Phoenix.
We are hoping to have this be our first submission into lots of film festivals, specifically Phoenix Film Festival and Prescott Film Festival.
Permits are already being generated by the Prescott Film Office and we have already secured a great AirBnB to house the crew for a really great deal.
Thank you to all of those who donate and please continue to share with everyone you know! We need to reach at least 80% ($2000) of our goal in order for the crowdfund to be successful. Otherwise, everyone will be reimbursed.
The Story
We want to tell a story that relates to so many young adults struggling between paying bills and chasing their dreams. The story conveys the constant, drastic changes that can happen in day-to-day life when you are young and living on your own. We hope to get this accepted into our first ever film festival next year.

Logline:
An aspiring filmmaker and her boy best friend chase their dreams in the big city, only to end up at a coffee shop.
Synopsis:
Hailey, an aspiring filmmaker stuck in a barista job, is quietly unraveling. Beneath her calm surface, Hailey navigates panic attacks and intrusive thoughts of Emily Gorge, a wildly successful movie star who embodies everything Hailey feels she isn’t. After a fight with her best friend Nick leaves her feeling more adrift than ever, Hailey reaches a breaking point. But an unexpected breakfast with her aging grandparents sparks a quiet revelation: life is too short to wait for things to fall into place. If she wants change, she’ll have to make it herself.

What are we using the money for?
We will be using the money to fund meals and housing for the crew as well as pay for transportation, location, and permits. Everyone on the cast and crew is donating their time and we are so thankful for that. Even with such a great donation, we still estimate a budget of $4000 to make the film and we want to crowdfund about half of that while we work to raise/save the remaining budget ourselves. The other half being funded internally is to show our supporters that we will have our own skin in the game and that we truly care about this project. We have built up the knowledge and skills with the equipment to support it and now is our time to let it all shine!
Estimated Budget:
- Food – $1200 – 4 days, 15 people, 2 meals per day + Crafty.
- Housing – $1250 – Housing for the people coming from Phoenix to Prescott.
- Labor – $500 – Hiring Grandparents if we are not able to find anyone for free.
- Transportation – $300 – Gas compensation for the cars coming up from Phoenix.
- Production Design – $500 – A budget for any props or location items we need to purchase to set dress.
